Re: Glastonbury
Rick Astley has been the star of this Glastonbury.

His opening set was cheesy but he wasn't afraid to be a little self deprecating and drummed a decent version of Highway To Hell, he gave the crowd what they wanted.

His set with The Blossoms performing songs of The Smiths was superb. Ok he mistimed on a few occasions but seemed to be totally enjoying himself.

Top effort by Astley.

Re: Glastonbury
The Independent review was written by a chap that hated GnR before they even started and no doubt watched it on iplayer where the vocal feed was knackered.

Other reviews, including the Guardian which I wouldn’t have expected, are 4 and 5 star

GnR fans would have loved it.

People that only know Paradise City from Chicago Rock Cafe might have been disappointed.

In a festival that bangs on about inclusiveness and tolerance there has been an overwhelming snobbishness about GnR with a big focus on the evil of old white men.

Oddly, GnR are the only headliner to a) have women members, and b) have black members, in their case 2.

Not sure how that rankles with Mark Beaumont from the Independent

Re: Glastonbury
Lana Del Rey was incredible on the ‘other’ stage. 15yo me would be disgusted that I changed the channel midway through GnR set but I thought Axl sounded awful.

Re: Glastonbury
Hell yeah GnR were fucking amazing squeezing their 60+ year old bodies into tight leather strides... oh and that they have ethnics and birds on stage with them... oh and it was the microphone feed...

Nothing more embarrassing than old rockers not changing their wardrobes...

Re: Glastonbury
Switched over last night and saw Eddie Izzard fronting GnR. Where did Axel go?

Tonight a septuagenarian pub singer will be donning a syrup and imitating Elton John.

Enjoy.

Re: Glastonbury
Soldy, it can be said the same for old mods and their wardrobes….but they do generally carry it off a bit better….didn’t like Axl’s BOB…..
